Mary C. Janosko, 95, of Sayre, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the
Sayre Memory Care Residence in Sayre, PA.
Born on November 20, 1928, in Sayre, to Arthur and Edith Davis Gailey, Mary was the youngest
of three daughters. She was a graduate of Epiphany Elementary School and a member of the
class of 1946 at Sayre High School. While at SHS, she was a proud Redskin cheerleader on the
varsity squad. Mary was a life-long congregant of Epiphany Church and participated in the
Perpetual Adoration. She worked at the Sears store in Sayre, and retired as an office manager
for the Pennsylvania Water Company, also in Sayre. In her retirement, Mary was an active
member of the Red Hatters Society, an avid traveler with her beloved husband, John, enjoyed
participating in women’s golf leagues, and took advantage of every opportunity to spend time
with her family.
Mary is predeceased by her husband, John, parents, Arthur and Edith Gailey, and sisters, Rose
Marie May and Barbara Detrick. She is survived by her children, John (Jeanne), Patrick (Eileen),
Brian (Kathy); grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Beirnstein, Kathleen (Tom) Krupica, Christine
(Louie) Nardelli, Robert (Jessica) Janosko, Kelley (David) Gabriel, Ashley (Rodrigo) Janosko
Nunez, Kimberly (Zane) Waite, Laura (Ivan) Ramirez; and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 15, 2024 in The Church of the Epiphany hall
from 10AM-11AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will follow at the Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens, PA.
In honor of her dedication to her community, donations may be made in Mary’s
memory to the Sayre Public Library, the Sayre Historical Society, or the Child Hunger Outreach
