Ida P. Johnston

Ida P. Johnston, 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Sayre, PA on Saturday, June 15, 2019. 

She was born on April 29, 1924  in Norwich, NY to the late Henry and LoRena Smith.  Ida married Alfred Johnston on January 22, 1942 and he predeceased her in November of 2003.

Ida was a homemaker and mother to 11 children.  Six of her children predeceased her:  Jane Anne, Carole Mae, Billy, Kevin, Allen and Jerry.

Family picnics were Ida’s favorite things to do with her surviving children and their families.  Those that survive her:  Robert (Kim) Johnston; Rose Noto; Alfred Johnston; Sharon (Phil) Gerould and Roger (Linda) Johnston.  Along with these children, Ida is survived by 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister Shirley (George) Geisenger and many nieces and nephews.

Others that predeceased her are:  daughter-in-law Marcia Johnston; Sisters and brothers Alberta (Glenn) Lattimer; Vivian (Frances) Holdridge; Ed (Bea) Smith; Roy (Elizabeth) Smith; Hank (Bea) Smith; in laws: Fannie and Fred Johnston; Helen (Ted) Miller; Dolly (Charles) Miller; Robert (Virginia) Johnston; Leo (Jean) Johnston; Fred (Charlotte) Johnston

In accordance with Ida’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.  There will be a private graveside burial at a later date at the convenience of the family.
