Anna Marie (Casciani) Carey

Anna Marie (Casciani) Carey from Sayre, PA passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024 at the age of 96. 

Anna was born November 25, 1927 at the Robert Packer Hospital to Sante and Emma Casciani. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Carey, Jr. and son-in-law, Brian Charlton, MD.

Anna graduated from Sayre High School in 1945. She was the recipient of the Donald Guthrie Chemistry Award. She was employed at Sears Order Office on Desmond St. in Sayre from 1945-1949. She married Bill at the Epiphany Catholic Church on June 11, 1949. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and doing crossword puzzles. She was an avid Yankee fan and Jeopardy enthusiast. She was a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Anna moved to Elderwood Assisted Living in 2022 where she enjoyed quality time with friends and her favorite activity was Bingo. We want to thank the staff of Elderwood Assisted Living for their excellent care of Anna while she was a resident. 

Anna is survived by her 3 loving children, Kathy (Jim) Crease, Mary Charlton, Bob (Cindy) Carey; grandchildren, Derek Slife, Stephanie (Bill) Hubert, Alicia (Eric) VanDuzer; great-granddaughter, Layla Hubert; as well as many close cousins and friends. 

Respecting Anna's wishes, there will be a private graveside service at a future date. 

Memorial contributions can be made in Anna’s name to the Sayre Public Library and/or Sayre Historical Society.
