Brian Lee Sargent, affectionately known as Sarge or DJ Sizzle, passed away unexpectedly of
natural causes on Friday, June 28, 2024, at the age of 50. Born on June 9, 1974, Brian lived a life
full of adventure, passion, and dedication.
Brian is survived by his mother Marguerite “Meg” Sargent; aunts Laurena, Mary, and Sarah
Sargent; and many cousins, friends, and students who cherished his guidance and support.
He was predeceased by his father Leo; uncles Bernard, Joseph, William, and Raymond; aunts Ruth
Ann Gombash, Rosemary Dickerson, and Shirley Sargent; and grandparents Harald and Mary
Brennan Sargent, and George and Margaret Kenyon.
A graduate of Epiphany School and Sayre High School Class of 1993, Brian pursued various
paths, reflecting his adventurous spirit and willingness to explore new horizons. While growing
up Brian, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 17 at Epiphany Church. He then served
honorably in the Army and later worked as a security guard on a riverboat in Laughlin and in
Orange County, California. His true passion, however, was Muay Thai. Brian trained and lived in
Thailand for four and a half years, traveling to Laos, Cambodia, China, Vietnam, and Burma,
ultimately realizing his dream of owning Sargent Muay Thai Gym in Athens, PA. He inspired
many students with his dedication and philosophy that "the secret to success was to keep
showing up."
When not immersed in the world of Muay Thai, Brian brought joy to many as DJ Sizzle,
spreading smiles and fun through his music at various events. He was the life of the party,
leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
When we reflect on the essence of Brian's journey, we uncover the true nature of purpose,
meaning, and goodness. Life's purpose lies in the grand adventure of self-discovery, where we
unveil our unique gifts. The meaning of life is found in sharing these gifts with the world just as
Brian did as a Muay Thai coach. Beyond sharing our passions, it is our duty to infuse joy into
moments and create lasting memories. This is precisely what Brian embodied as DJ Sizzle.
