Carol Ann Simons, 79, of Waverly, NY, passed away following a brief illness on
Monday, November 17, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at home.
Carol was born August 6, 1946, in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late John and
Barbara (Ackerman) Luchaco.
Carol graduated in the Top Ten from Sayre Area High School in 1964. Her
special interests included her great love for her grandsons, her voracious love of
reading, enjoying bus trips to new and old locations, but most importantly, spending time
with her husband, Jim. Carol’s interest in learning never dissipated. Carol was a
member of the St. James Altar and Rosary Society.
In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her In-Laws Donald and
Louise Simons, her grandparents Carl and Alice Ackerman, Anthony and Antonina
Luchaco, brother-in-law Richard Siebecker and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Carol is survived by her husband, James, her daughter and son-in-law Ann and
Richard Gillespie of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sisters Barbara (Carl) Wasaff of Houston, TX.,
Susan Luchaco of Waverly, NY; and Diane Siebecker (Scott Johnson) of Sayre, PA.,
grandsons Carter and Joshua Gillespie of Mt. Pleasant, SC., along with many nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Carol’s family would like to thank the ICU doctors and nurses from Robert Packer
Hospital and Guthrie Lourdes Hospice for the care given to her during her illness.
Thank you to Fr. Galens and Fr. Jim of Blessed Trinity St. James Catholic Church for
their visits to Carol at the hospital and at home. These visits brought her great comfort.
A Mass will be held on Tuesday November 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the Blessed Trinity
St. James Catholic Church located at 503 Clark St., Waverly, NY. Carol’s family will
greet family and friends after the Funeral Mass in the Church Hall.
Memorial donations may be made in Carol's memory to the Blessed Trinity St.
James Catholic Church.
