Doris A. (Loper) House

Doris A. House, 82, of Waverly, New York passed away September 29, 2023 at Towanda Skilled Nursing Home , Towanda, PA. Doris was born on May 6, 1941 in Ralston, Pa to the late Francis E. and Mildred L. (Carey) Loper.

She was a 1959 graduate of Waverly High School and graduated from Corning Community College with an A.A.S. with distinction. She later retired from Guthrie Clinic Finance Dept. in 2006.

Doris Valued the importance of volunteering and supported numerous animal rescues. Through the years she volunteered at Tioga Hospital, Waverly food pantry, Waverly Welcome Wagon and taught literacy to adults. She loved reading, gardening, and playing cards. When visiting her, you often found a new rescued cat in her home. She was a member of the Red Hats Society and the Waverly United Methodist Church.

Doris is survived by the love of her life, Charles. They were married 58 years and grew their family to include son Jay (Melanie Winslow) House of Lockwood, NY, daughter Jody (Michael) Soroka of Freeville, NY and daughter Kari (Kevin) Tomberlin of Port Wentworth Ga. Grandchildren Dustin Barrett, Cassie Bruce, Jacob Soroka, Julia Soroka, Laura Soroka. Three special great granddaughters, Mckenna, Willow, Emma Bruce.

She is also survived by her sister Linda (Francis) Bennett of Erin NY, her brother Gerald Loper of Chemung NY, as well as nieces, nephews, sister and brother in laws.

In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her brothers Francis R. Loper, David A. Loper and sisters Agnes M. Cundy, Fern M. Loper and her grandson Dustin Barrett.

The family will receive friends and family on Saturday October 21, 2023 from 10AM to 12PM at the Waverly United Methodist Church followed by a service starting at 12PM. Burial will be private at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Elmira, New York.
