Dorothy Mae ( Taylor)Maslin, 87, of Waverly ,N.Y. passed away at the home of her daughter and son in law on Friday , June 21,2019.She was born with her twin sister on December 20,1931 at the family farmhouse in Barton, NY. ,the daughter of the late William J. and Mable (Steenberg) Taylor.
Dorothy was a kind , gentle , loving woman devoted to her family. With her brothers and sisters she attended a one room school on Frost Hollow in Barton N.Y. and was a 1949 graduate of Waverly High School. Dorothy worked in the Market Basket grocery store in Sayre and at the Sayre Super Duper. She retired after 17 years with Horn's True Value Hardware in Waverly N.Y. She loved family gatherings, rummage sales, trips to the casino, jigsaw puzzles, and playing rummy with dear friends at Elizabeth Square Apts.
She is survived by her daughter ,Sherry (Ted) Pinkard of Sayre, daughter ,Sue Ann Maslin of Sunbury, son ,Kevin (Yvonne) of Athens, grandchildren, Scott (Amanda) Pinkard of Jonestown ,Pa., Brian Pinkard (Erica) of Lake Worth ,Fla. Brenda (Chris) Laubach, Middleburg, Pa., Jenny Westbrook Dantonio (Steve),Watsontown, Pa, Sarah Westbrook(Jeramiah Moyer), Mt Pleasant Mills, Pa, Rachael (Jacob) Strouse, Selinsgrove, Pa. Rodney (Tiffany) Snook Middleburg Pa. Taylor Maslin , Joel Maslin both of Athens, Pa. and Derek Parrish ,Litchfield,Pa.,23 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, loving nieces and nephews. In laws, Richard and Norma Maslin, Ann Van Bork , Allyn and Maureen Maslin. Dear friends Ann Dunning, Sharon Bergman, Linda Martin . Dorothy was predeceased by her former husband Rodney in 1989 and by dear companion David Gower in 2014, brothers :Private First Class Elmer (Rodney) Taylor, Lloyd, and William(Junior),sisters: Gladys(Jack)Colburn, Betty Driscoll,and twin Doris (Nevin) Mantz. Also , Roland and Pam Maslin, and David VanBork.
In later years Dorothy had attended Valley United Presbyterian Church in Waverly, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
