Felicia Hutter Knowles passed to eternal life of peace and unconditional love on Christmas day 2018 with devoted niece Barbara by her side.
Felicia was predeceased by brother Lothar ‘Luke’ Hutter, sister-in-law Lois Potter Hutter, and parents Joseph and Babetta Hutter, immigrants from Switzerland in 1921.
Surviving family include nieces Nancy Hutter of Sayre PA; Barbara Hutter, Elmira, NY; Sue Brown (Chet) of Barton NY; great-niece Stacie Hutter Uitti (Jussi); Colleen Brown VanHousen (Jeff); and great-nephew Kyle Brown (Liz)
Felicia was a graduate of Crane School of Music SUNY Potsdam, NY with graduate courses at Columbia University in NYC. She was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. Felicia loved to compose music and her composition ‘Blessings’ is published in the Delta Kappa Gamma International Honorary Women Educators book.
In addition to teaching music at Ichabod Crane Central School System, Valatie, New York, Felicia directed two adult summer concert bands - the Ghent Band and the Coxsackie Community Band. Felicia retired from teaching in 1986 but continued with private piano lessons and conducting. She was a favorite at assisted living centers she resided, known for her sense of humor and smile. But she was best known for entertaining on the piano for special occasions and ‘coffee hour’. Her dream of practicing “music therapy“ came true as infirmed residents would respond to her music. Her favorite saying was “that makes me happy“. At 92 Felicia was able to play for coffee hour until several weeks before her death.
Burial will be at a later date with family.
