Frances Emily Goodrich

Frances Emily Goodrich (née Arnold), age 96, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, surrounded by family in Waverly, New York. Born on July 7, 1928, in Syracuse, New York, Fran lived a long and full life marked by devotion to her family, creativity, and enduring friendships.

Fran graduated from Syracuse Valley High School in 1944 and went on to earn her degree from Syracuse University in 1948. That same year, on June 19, she married Vincent N. Goodrich, beginning a partnership that would last for 58 years until his passing.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Fran was known for her warmth and artistic spirit. She had a deep creative streak that found expression through painting and drawing. However, it was sewing that truly captured her heart—first making clothes for her daughters and later embracing the intricate art of cross-stitching. Her Tuesday cross-stitching group with Sally Ambrose became a cherished part of her weekly routine and a source of joy and camaraderie.

She was employed by the Bradford Area Public Library for many years, retiring in 2016. Fran & Vince loved the library and were actively involved in the fund raising and move to the new library. Fran loved her library family.

Fran is survived by her daughters Cheryl Meyer (John Monti) and Lori Goodnoe (Roger Bickford); grandchildren Tom Hopkins (Brooke), Jessica Meyer (Scott), and Alison Meyer (Matt); and great-grandsons Kyle Hopkins, Zachary Hopkins, and Cooper Hopkins: and nieces & nephew. Also survived by special family Hans Rudolph & Elisabeth Meier and their sons Gregory & Raymond. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Vincent N. Goodrich (d. 2006); her parents Frank P. and Emily Soule Arnold; and her sister Doris Jones.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the neighbors who looked after Fran with kindness over the years before she relocated—Debbie & Denny Gibbs; Gina, Laurie & Mary Gabriel; and Joan Raab. Their care and friendship meant so much to Fran and her family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday June 26, 2025, 11:45 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 54 E. Corydon St. Bradford, PA. Visitation with family 11-1145 am.  Donations in her memory may be made to the Bradford Area Public Library or charity of your choice. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
