George Charles Claypool passed away at his home in Sayre on Sunday, September 1st. He was 81. Born in Athens on November 8, 1942, to his parents Clarence (Sonny) Claypool and Louise (Morton) Stowell.
George graduated from Athens in 1960 and entered the Army soon after graduation. He served overseas post-Korea. George enjoyed hunting and fishing, travelling around the country with his wife Carol, playing cards with friends, keeping people from his graduating class up to date on classmate happenings, and investigating the family's genealogy. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and enjoyed sharing his wisdom with them. He was a proud Vet and a life member of the VFW Post 1536.
George is survived by his wife of 59 years Marilyn (Carol), his son Barry (Maureen), daughter Amy, grandchildren Dan (Kylie), Brandon, Jordan, Thomas, Carrie, Samuel, and Mark as well as great grandchildren William and Catherine. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Hite, and Cindy West, and brothers Glenn Henson, Tim (Nancy) Henson, and Robert Patton. His predeceased family members include his Mom and Dad, sisters Mary and Patricia, and brother Jim (Cindy) Henson.
