Gerould (Jerry) D. Keener,89, of Athens, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 24, 2026, at his home with his sons Tim and Tracy by his side. He was born in Sayre at the Robert Packer Hospital to his parents Lawrence and Marjorie Keener on August 10, 1936.
Jerry was an avid New York Yankee and New York Giant fan. He also enjoyed watching Nascar throughout his life. He loved to fish, play golf and made numerous trips to Canada. He was a member of the American Legion of Athens and the VFW of Sayre.
Jerry worked at the Ingersoll-Rand in Athens for forty-four years and at State Line Auto Auction in Waverly.
He is survived by his sons: Tim Keener (Maureen Bellgrath) of Athens and Tracy Keener of Litchfield. He is also survived by his sister Diane Klossner. He is also survived by his grandchildren are Billy (Stephanie) Somers and Timothy (Callie) Keener, and Tracy Keener, great grandchildren Brantly and Shelby Somers, and Claire Keener.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, wife Sandra, his daughter Tammy Somers, and brother Larry Keener.
Services will be private per Jerry’s wishes. Those wishing to send a memorial donation may do so in Jerry’s name to Guthrie Hospice (421 Tomahawk Rd. Towanda, Pa. 18848). Burial will be held at Tioga Point Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
