Lois Marie (Bagley) Horn, 97, passed away August 24, 2023, at the Pruitt Health Center in Durham, NC. She was born October 23, 1925, in Sayre PA to the late Willard (Bill) Bagley and Jesse (Camp) Schultz.
Lois was a lifelong member of the Church of the Redeemer in Sayre. A Sayre High School graduate, she was the first female recipient of the athletic letter “S”. During World War II, she contributed to the war effort running a lathe at the Athens Ingersoll Rand and volunteering at the USO canteen in Sayre. Following the war, she married John Horn and settled into raising a family. She was an accomplished knitter and enjoyed many crafts. Lois took joy in her home, decorating, cooking, and entertaining. The biggest joy in her life was her family, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was never judgmental; her love was unconditional. She also was a lover of many and all pets. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Lois is survived by her sons; Bob (Marion) Horn of Durham, NC, Richard (Christine) Horn of Littleton, CO, grandchildren; Mary-Charles Horn and Katie Horn of Durham, NC, Doug (Amanda) Horn of Woodridge, IL, Andrew Horn of Littleton CO, great grandchildren; Sydney and Landon Horn of Littleton, CO; nieces and nephews, including Susan Lantz of Sayre.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Horn, son, David Horn, sisters, Betty (Bagley) Thomas and Susan (Solomon) Grooms.
A service will be held at the Church of the Redeemer in Sayre Thursday, September 21st at 10:00 AM.
