Lola Kay Patterson passed away, peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on
March 17, 2025. Lola was born on October 27, 1957 in Waverly, NY to Esly and Irene
(Hilliker) Boardman. She was one of 10 children and spent her early childhood on the
family farm in North Orwell, PA and attended Northeast Bradford schools. Lola
cherished memories of growing up on the farm, and despite a fading memory, could still
recall stories. While in high school, Lola’s family moved to Dry Brook Rd where she
attended Waverly High School and met Bob Patterson, whom she would love for the
rest of her life. She graduated with the Class of 1975.
Bob and Lola were married at St. James Catholic Church on July 19, 1975. They
welcomed and raised three daughters, Stephanie Anne, Kathryn Elizabeth, and Megan
Marie.
Lola held many jobs in her life, most notably, a manager at McDonald's in South
Waverly, a food server at the Waverly High School, and a student monitor for the
S.A.C.C. program. Of all her titles, the most cherished were Mom and Grandma. Like
her mother and grandmother, she fulfilled her purpose through caring for her family.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and crocheting. Lola always looked forward to
the harvest season when she could pick fruits and vegetables for canning. She made
the best strawberry jam. She loved spending summers camping and fishing between
New York and Pennsylvania. Lola took pride in her camper and decorated the
campsites. She rarely missed the chance to visit a yard sale or thrift store. Lola
cherished family get-togethers, especially during time with her sisters, Jan and Sue.
She was proud of her Wolverines and loved supporting her girls, nieces, and nephews.
She was a member of the Waverly Sports and Band Boosters and devoted much of her
time to the J.E. Hallett Fire Company where she was a life member of the Ladies
Auxiliary.
Lola retired early from the school to travel to Indiana, Kentucky, and Missouri to see her
kids, grandkids, and grand fur kids. She was so proud of her role as a mother and
grandmother and loved them dearly.
Lola is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bob, her daughters Stephanie (Tobias)
Foster, Kathryn Patterson, and Megan (Brett) Fleming. Her grandchildren Kenzie Lynn,
Tabitha Lynn, Jeffery Lynn, Sean Fleming, Reagan Fleming, and David Fleming. She is
also survived by her siblings Gary (Okpun) Boardman, Janice (Mitchel) Rought, Susan
(Edward) Juiliani, Beatrice Boardman, Tell (Kris) Boardman, and Sidney (Sarah)
Boardman, and sister-in-law Mary (Wayne) Deforest, along with many extended family
and friends.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Elaine Marriott and Carol
Boardman, her in-laws James and Margaret Patterson and brother-in-law Tom
Patterson.
