Luciano (Lou) Joesph Fiorello was called home December 26, 2023. He was born on March 16, 1926, to Rocco and Agnes Fiorello in Sayre, Pennsylvania.
He is predeceased by his loving parents. He is also predeceased by his son Larry Fiorello and daughter-in-law Becky Fiorello. He is survived by his grandson Eric Derrig. He is also survived by his very close friends who quickly became family to him including Bobbi and Frank Chase of Sayre, Terri and Greg Wittig of Athens, and Howard “Sonny “Kithcart of Sayre.
Lou lived his entire 97 years in Sayre, PA. He was a graduate of Sayre High School. Lou worked for the Lehigh Valley Railroad until 1976. From there he would work at the Ingersoll Rand as a guard until he retired. He would tell many stories of his days on the railroad.
Lou was a member of The Church of Epiphany and had strong faith. His passion was to garden and work outside in his yard. He could be found outside from the first sign of spring until the first freeze of winter. He would plant a garden to span his entire yard every year and gift the vegetables to all his neighbors as he valued them as friends. He would also begin to grow flowers for “His Bobbi” which he would plan all winter to keep up on things. The joy it brought him to gift food and flowers was very clear to see. He was very loved by anyone who knew him.
There will be no public service as Mr. Fiorello requested. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Hospice of Sayre, PA in memory of Luciano.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of The Thomas Cremation and Funeral Service, 1297 Elmira St., Sayre, Pa. Those wishing to leave a sympathy message for Lou’s family may do so at thomascremationfuneralservice.com
