Paul P. Shaffer

Paul Peter Shaffer, 94, of Waverly, NY passed away Wednesday June 17 th , 2026,
surrounded by his family.

He is survived by three children, Mike (Karen) Shaffer, Wayne (Stacy) Shaffer, and
Therese Garcia.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Werkheiser Shaffer and a
daughter, Kelley Shaffer Carver. Paul had eight grandchildren and ten great-
grandchildren.

Born on December 29 th , 1931, in Towanda Pa, he married and raised his family in
Waverly, NY. Paul was employed and retired as a Guidance Counselor from
Horseheads Central School District.

He enjoyed reading, fishing and golfing, recording 4 holes in one. He volunteered
his time with AmeriCorps building houses in South Florida. During his time with
AmeriCorps, he rebuilt houses destroyed by hurricanes where he met and worked
side by side with former President Jimmy Carter.

He and Laura spent over 20 years in a retirement community (Sebastian, Florida)
making several wonderful friends. They were part of a card club and enjoyed taking
turns hosting and preparing meals.

Per Paul’s request there will be no services.

Memorials can be directed to the Waverly Free Library.
