Randy Cornell Obituary

Randy Cornell, 62, passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 6, 2024 after his battle with cancer for 1.5 years. Randy married Leola Howard in 1981 at the North Waverly Chapel and have been married for 43 years.

Randy Cornell was born at Tioga General Hospital in Waverly, NY on May 21, 1962 to his parents Frederick Cornell and Harriette Jordan.  Randy graduated from Athens High School in 1980, and then he joined the United States Air Force and served until 1994. Randy served in the Gulf War in the 1990’s. When returning home to “The Valley” he started working for Ingersoll-Rand and later when the company closed its plant for Camco Manufacturing.

Randy enjoyed spending time with his family. He made a point to take time to spend with them. When his daughters were young, his transfers between stations turned into weeks long vacations driving from point A to point B and hitting all the sights in between. He enjoyed working with guns as his father did, hunting, fishing, and flying model airplanes. Randy’s grandchildren were the highlight to his life and spent many hours playing with and teaching them about all the things he knew. Randy enjoyed telling stories of his hunting trips and the time he served to friends and family at family picnics. He prided himself in his work, remodeled his house, building his wife a chicken condo, and his daughter’s barn.

Randy is pre-deceased by his parents, Frederick Cornell and Harriette Jordan; his sister, Kim Dennison; Father and Mother-In-Law, Milford and Margaret Howard.

Randy is survived by his wife, Leola Cornell; daughter, Samantha (Allen) Shepard, her children, Zachary, Shai and Ryan; daughter, Trisha Cornell and her children, Teagan and Brenden; brother, Nikki (Luann) Cornell; sister, Laurie Wright; stepmother, Yvonne Cornell; as well as several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of The Thomas Cremation and Funeral Service, 1297 Elmira St., Sayre, Pa. Those wishing to leave a sympathy message for Randy's family may do so at thomascremationfuneralservice.com
