RICHARD “DICK” SAMER, 83

Richard “Dick” Samer of Lincoln Street, Waverly, passed away 
peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018 after a brief stay at Elderwood in 
Waverly.

Born on Jan. 13, 1935 in Allentown, Pa., Richard was the son of 
Charles and Helen Samer.

Richard was a 1953 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic, and later 
served in the United States Marine Corps. He was also a veteran of the 
Korean War, and a member of the Waverly VFW and Sayre American Legion.

Richard was an avid sports fan, and most notably a fan of baseball and 
the Philadelphia Phillies. He was also an avid card player.

In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by a brother, Robert.

He is survived by his brother Charles (Jean) Samer of Clark Summit, 
Pa.; three daughters: Sherry (Skip) Benson of Charleston, S.C., Linda 
(Rick) Wyman of Lake George, Co., and Nancy Hart of York, Pa.; and 
four grandsons: Heath and Van Benson, Morgan Hart, and Cody Wyman.

He is also survived by his fiancée Ann Nusbaum, her daughters Denise 
(Dave) Matweecha of Philipsburg, Pa., and Nicole (Tim) Birney of 
Waverly; and her grandchildren: Emily, James, Cassandra, and Patrick 
Birney, and Nick and Katie Matweecha.

At his request, there will be no services or calling hours.
