Ronnie (Lynch) Moulthrop unexpectedly passed from this world into eternal life at the age of 84 on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Robert Packer Hospital in her hometown of Sayre, PA. She was born to Cyril and Ruby (Jennings) Lynch in Spring Lake, PA on Oct. 2, 1939. Whether you knew her as Ronzie, Mom, Mam, Aunt Ronnie, or Ronnie, she was a central part of the family. We will all remember her as an example of goodness and humility in this world. She leaves behind gifts of love, kindness, lots of cookies, and good memories that will remain with us.
Ronnie attended Epiphany School, Sayre High School (class of 1958), and College Misericordia in Dallas, PA. At Sayre High School, she was a class officer in 10th-12th grades. In 1958, she was Sayre’s May Queen and represented Sayre at the Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival in Wellsboro. She had wonderful memories of those with whom she went to school at Epiphany Elementary and Sayre High and enjoyed planning and participating in SHS class reunions. She enjoyed playing basketball in her youth and played 2nd base on the Bob’s Honda softball team as an adult.
She met her husband of 62 years, John Moulthrop, while working at Bert’s Pharmacy. He passed muster with her and the family, and the rest, as they say, is history. They enjoyed a long, wonderful marriage and set a great example for us all. She worked as a teller at Northern Central/ M&T Bank for many years, always offering customers friendly service. She attended daily mass most of her adult life and took part in Eucharistic Adoration for over 25 years. She was an exemplar of faith and devotion to Christ.
Ronnie was loved dearly by her family and friends. You could count on her for an uplifting smile, a kind word, and always putting others first. She loved to cook, and people loved her cooking. Whether it was cookies, pies, or a great holiday meal, her cooking brought much joy and was a great expression of her love for others.
Mom usually had a jigsaw puzzle underway as well as a good book, and could often be found gardening. She liked watching NCAA men’s and women’s basketball and Penn State football, and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-nieces and -nephews play all the sports they enjoyed. Ronnie had a penchant for Lynch family history and cherished her Irish heritage. She enjoyed sharing news of family and friends but usually spent more time asking about yourself and every member of your family.
Ronnie is survived by husband John Moulthrop, daughter Ayn (Moulthrop) Patrowicz, son-in-law William Patrowicz, grandchildren Mitchell, Reagan, and John, as well as sisters Marilee Quinlan and Sharon Lynch, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim & Marty Moulthrop, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dave & Dixie Moulthrop, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Chris (Moulthrop) & Don Pierce, 21 nieces and nephews, many more grand-nieces and -nephews, “second daughter” Siobhan (Kelly) Gordon, and many more friends who were part of her extended family.
Ronnie was predeceased by her parents, Cyril & Ruby (Jennings) Lynch, sister Ruth Ann (“Rippie”) Park and brother-in-law, Harry Park, brother Richie Lynch and his wife, Sarah, brother Tommy and his wife, Norma, brother-in-law Andy Quinlan, brother-in-law Jerry Lynch, sister-inlaw Barbara (Moulthrop) Shepard, infant brothers Peter and Paul, and nephews, Jeff Lynch and Andy Pierce.
Mom was a blessing to others and truly blessed with wonderful family and friends. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
