Shirley Merithew

With sadness to announce that Shirley Merithew passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024. She was 87 years old and resided in Athens PA. Shirley was a tenacious woman born to Elwin (Dusty) and Luella Merithew on September 26, 1936. Shirley thoroughly enjoyed her career years while at the Guthrie Clinic of the Robert Packer Hospital.  Her passion was farm life with life partner Rodney Wood and her Australian Shepards. She reigned supreme over her herds of cattle and miniature horses. She was a huge fan of everything country and western, particularly those golden years of country music.

She is survived by her sole sibling Ronald and his girlfriend Barbara Jacques as well as her niece, Roxie O’Brien and husband Jeff and Grandnieces Abbie O’Brien and Caddie Obrien.

She was predeceased by parents Elwin and Luella as well as her life partner Rodney. At Shirley’s request there will be only family services. Additionally, the family would request any memorial contributions be made to an animal related charity of the donor's choice
