Leon Powell passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, following an extended illness. He was born in
Camptown, PA, May 30, 1942, to Leigh and Eva Lenox Powell.
He was a graduate of Wyalusing
High School, in 1960, where he excelled in academics as well as sports. He attended a year at
Drew University, Madison, New Jersey, before going to work at the then, IBM, Owego, NY. He
retired from IBM in 1997.
After his retirement he enjoyed spending time at his home in
Windham, Center, PA and traveling the country with his wife, Carole on their motorcycles. He
had a passion for baseball, and for several years he volunteered as a baseball coach at NEB . He
enjoyed attending baseball games of the various Bradford County schools’ baseball games.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carole Eddy Powell, a daughter, Rae Lynne Powell Quinn
and her husband, Sean, Waverly, NY; a son, Brett Powell and his wife Lorri Davis Powell of
Centerville, PA., Grandchildren, Megan Chapman, of Bismarck, ND, Ryan Chapman and his wife
Sarah, Waverly, NY; Erica Powell Welch and her husband, Josh, of Waverly, NY; Caitlyn, Powell
of Centerville, PA and two great grandchildren, Talon and Izabelle Chapman; Sisters Anna Mae
Bateman, and Marie (husband) Leonard Souto as well as several nieces and nephews; Brother
in-law, Dan Eddy and his wife Kathy, Johnson City, NY and a sister-in-law, Barbara Oliver of
Binghamton, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Grover Powell.
At Leon's request, there will be no viewing or funeral service.
Donations in his memory may be made to a Humane Society of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of The Thomas Cremation and Funeral Service, 1297 Elmira St., Sayre, Pa.
