On the morning of May 22, 2026 surrounded by family, Walter Romanik Sr. slipped
peacefully into the arms of his Savior. Born February 17,1935 in Lederach, Pa., he was
the son of Michael and Nellie (Siomko) Romanik.
Walter married Geraldine Sacks on September 10, 1955 celebrating 70 years of
marriage last fall.
He was a dairy farmer in Montgomery and Bucks Counties before moving his family to
Bradford County in 1968. Farming for 30 years, he loved working with the cows and
farming the land. Animals held a special place in his heart and he often tended to his
son’s horses after he stopped farming. For many years, he drove school bus for the
Northeast Bradford school district. After he retired from farming, he went to work at
Taylor Packing for 21 years, working in the pens and security.
In younger years, Walt could be found playing softball with family and friends. He played
on a Sr. League in later years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending many
days trout fishing with family. He also threw a mean horseshoe and enjoyed roller
skating at Ringing Rocks. During the time that his son was in Cub Scouts, he was
involved with the Hilltown Pa. Troop. For ten years, he worked the Pit Gate at Dunn Hill
Raceway.
He and Geri traveled to New England and the western states, including hunting trips,
and a Christmas in Wyoming snowmobiling in Yellowstone. Sunday’s in the Fall were
for football; he was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, attending an Eagles – Cleveland
Browns game, a highlight for him, as well as a Penn State Blue-White and a Bucknell
Bison game.
Most recently, he was a resident of Robert Packer Towanda’s Skilled Nursing Unit.
