In Loving Memory of Yvonne E. Cornell
Yvonne was born in Lakewood, Ohio on Dec.1, 1934 to Warren C. & Clara D. Whitney. She passed away on the afternoon of 03.21.2025 very suddenly at The Homesteads of Apalachin.
She is survived by her daughter Laurie K Wright, son Nick (Luann) Cornell, daughter in law Leola Cornell, grandchildren Christina, Mike (Margaux), Becky, Blake (Brianna), Samantha (Alan), Christopher, Trisha, Hollie (Kyle); 22 Great-grandchildren. Nieces and nephews Kevin (Dee), Keith, Jamie (Ana) Hedlund, Leslie (Geoffrey) Piper, Tracy (Ric) Torres, Alex (Linda) Thayer. Grandnephews Koa & Danny. Brother-in-law Robert (Beverly), Richard (Sherry) Cornell, Lynn (Donna), Jim (Carol) Jennings, Winfred Dewey. Half-sister to Laurie Wendy B. Jennings
Yvonne was predeceased by her parents and in-law parents. Husband Gene A Jennings of 7 years, Frederick A. Cornell for 58 yrs. Daughter Kim Myers Dennison, Son Randy A. Cornell, sister Virginia (Ginny) Trefz, sister in-law Shirley (Vaughn) Thayer, Linda Jennings Dewey, brother in-law Roger Hedlund, and niece Pamela Robinson, Manford (Sharon) Cornell.
Growing up in Jamestown, NY, ice skating was a daily winter requirement and had a passion for her friends that have kept in touch for lifelong contact, Helen and Carol. A special friendship of Anita & Gunther of Germany.
Yvonne graduated from Jamestown High School Class of 1952 and North Park College (now University), Chicago, IL Class of 1954, with an Assoc. Degree in Accounting. She was employed at Garrison Oldsmobile for 8 years and C-N Bank for 25 years, while 8 of those years as bookkeeping department Manager. Retired in 1993. Then she took on the bookkeeping for 20 years with Fred's business. She volunteered for 5 winters at the PA State Representatives' office of Tina Pickett's Sayre office and was a poll worker for 17 years at the Athens Township Memorial Bldg. Voting location.
Yvonne enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, card games, crosswords, sudoku and her daily newspaper, NASCAR, football (Buffalo Bills), Amazing Race, Survivor and HGTV. Second only after learning the value and the Blessing of a blended family. Her other greatest joy was traveling with Fred or her sister Ginny to 20 countries around the world.
She sold the house that she and Fred built on Stover's Acres and moved into live with her daughter (2019) in a garage apartment in Johnson City, NY during Fred's stay at the Sayre Care Home until his passing in 2022 but kept close ties with "The Valley" her favorite place to live! She kept up with once a month lunches with her bank retiree buddies.
The family will gather at Bradford County Memorial Park in weeks to come to lay Yvonne to rest with Fred, in the Veteran's portion of the Park.
